Our Story

HOW WE MET

Our story started like most with a swipe right on a dating app. However, on our first date, Riddhima ran "a little" behind schedule. And by "a little", we mean three hours. While a last-minute trauma page kept her busy at the hospital, Sagar was convinced he had been ghosted. Lucky for us both, he had a friend in medicine who told him to wait it out.

Sagar waited. Riddhima sprinted to make it. But eventually, what was meant to be a 30 minute conversation turned into 3 hours of discovering shared values and interests, from travel, to food, to what we think is cinematic and musical excellence. Years later, Sagar's friends are still shocked that he found a girl who loves Zac Efron's Baywatch, listens to Pitbull on repeat, and dressed up as Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy with him for Halloween.

THE PROPOSAL

The proposal was a total surprise. So much so that Riddhima tried canceling her trip to Chicago because "the washing machine isn't working just right". Unfortunately, Sagar's hints to wear something nice didn't register either. Nevertheless, her oversized jacket and beanie stayed on, the ring came out, and it was the best "yes" either of them could have imagined.

THE PATH TO TULUM

Throughout our relationship, we've committed to improbable travel on a residency schedule. Whether it was pulling off an 8 day trip to Japan or enjoying Paris while fighting the flu, we've loved exploring the world together. So much so that we can't wait to bring you all to Tulum with us and our families!

We love feeding our loved ones (aka: Sagar cooks while Riddhima hosts) and we're always searching for inspiration. We take a cooking class everywhere we go, with the ones in Oaxaca and Mexico City being our favorites so far. As some of our friends say, "Oaxacan cheese has become Sagar's entire personality". Come hungry to the wedding weekend - we have been constructing the worldly menu of our dreams!

Travel &
Stay

Getting to Tulum

The two nearest airports are Cancun (CUN) and Tulum (TQO). While our wedding is in Tulum, the Tulum airport is about an hour from the hotel, and the Cancun airport is about an hour and 20 minutes away.

TQO has a significantly smaller volume of flights inbound, so while there is no issue if you arrive via TQO, we have found it easier during our planning trips to fly through CUN.

Closer to the event, we will ask for your travel details to help ensure a smooth transfer from airport to the hotel.*

*As long as you're arriving on Wednesday or Thursday, Dec 2 or 3, and departing on Dec 6. More incentive to stay for the whole party, not that you needed it.

🏨
Where to Stay

We have secured a room block with the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya. We have been dreaming of having all our guests under the same roof so no matter the hour of the day, we can easily find time to celebrate together.

The room block is available until July 31. If you are considering booking a hotel different from our venue, please reach out to us (SPRAwedding@gmail.com) prior to booking so we can work with you to find an option that works!

Book your room here

The room block expires July 31, 2026. Book early, please!

🌡
What to Expect

Tulum in December: 25–30°C (78–86°F), low humidity, end of hurricane season. Pack light breathable fabrics and sunscreen.

All events are partially or fully outdoors. Dressy sandals encouraged as we will often be transitioning between sand, grass, and concrete.

The best month to visit Tulum. You're coming.

Gifts and registry

No gifts! You are flying to a different country to celebrate our marriage and your presence is more than enough!

If you bring a gift, you will be flying it back home, too.
